Tonight, Senator Barack Obama has earned himself a new title, President-Elect Barack Obama. This was an extremely hard campaign for both candidates and Senator John McCain ran a historic campaign, however, change pervailed. Red states converted to Blue, like Virginia, Ohio, Florida, Iowa, potentially Indiana and North Carolina (I can’t stay up that late), and even the regular red states that McCain carried, Obama came close. As I was watching the coverage of the election tonight, I think what Senator McCain said during his final speech was absolutley great. We as Americans, Democrats and Republicans, need to help our President-Elect to suceed, for our great nation can not afford another term of failure. We must remember that a house divided cannot stand, as President Lincoln once said. It is also so great to see how far our nation has come from the black holes of slavery and segregation, to the majority of our citizens vote for a man from black descent for the presidency. This is a day of great pride for our nation. We must keep in mind, however, that the Obama supporters cannot get too high from victory and the McCain supporters cannot sulk about their loss. We need to heal our nation’s wounds and we need to do it now. Personally, I am very proud that the American people voted for change, and I hope people will comment on this post. May God Bless America and may we have a very sucessful next four years.
