What do Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama have in common? Their husbands are both running for President of the United States in 2008. They have both been actively involved in their husbands campaigns and each want their husband to win.
Cindy McCain was born on May 20th 1954 in Phoenix, Arizona. She received a Bachelor of Arts in education from the University of Southern California. In April of 1979, she met John McCain at a military reception in Hawaii. Despite the eighteen year difference, Cindy and John began dating. They were married in 1980 shortly after. Cindy helped her husband run successfully for the U.S. Congress in 1982. In 1988, she founded the American Voluntary Medical Team that provides for doctors and nurses to help provide medical care to disaster affected areas. She has helped her husband in running for president in 2000 and 2008 and she has a chance of being the United States’ First Lady in less than forty eight hours.
Michelle Obama was born on January 17th 1964 in Chicago, Illinois. She went onto major in sociology and miner in African American studies at Princeton University. She met her future husband when they were one of the only African Americans working at a law firm and he was assigned to tutor him while he was a summer employee. They married in October of 1992 and currently have two daughters. She currently is helping her husband in becoming the forty-fourth president of the United States. As well, Michelle Obama serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. In less than two days, Michelle Obama could become the next First Lady of the United States.
